A new study highlighting gender inequality in sex has found that young women are more likely than men to perform oral sex on their partner even if they don't want to. Researchers set out to investigate attitudes towards oral sex in young heterosexual males and females aged between 16 to years-old, and interviewed 71 individuals. The study also revealed that young men were more likely to say they did not perform oral sex if they did not want to. The study comes after previous research showed that young girls feel they are coerced into having anal sex. You can find our Community Guidelines in full here.

The government study shows fewer teenage girls are having oral sex, compared to a few years ago. The study, based on in-depth interviews with 6, young men and women aged 15 to 24, shows two-thirds in that age group have had oral sex, and just about the same proportion have had vaginal intercourse. The bad news is that teenagers and young adults are still highly likely to get sexually transmitted infections or STIs. The report shows that only 7 percent of girls aged 15 to 19 had had oral sex without ever having had vaginal intercourse. By age 22 to 24, just 2. But the CDC analysis shows that sexually active young people are likely to engage in both activities. According to independent filmmaker Sharlene Azam's documentary and book, Oral Sex is the New Goodnight Kiss , the normalization of oral sex as an acceptable teenage activity has led vulnerable girls to use it as a way of becoming socially accepted. Azam, 38, a former columnist for the Toronto Star , interviewed Canadian girls and their parents who had been discovered by school officials to be involved in sexual activity with groups of boys, as well as girls charged by police. This includes a prostitution ring at an Edmonton high school.
